What to Watch

In this week's Netflix selections, a group of rebels continue their efforts to take down their country's system, which separates the extreme haves and have-nots using a series of tests called the Process. High school debate rivals find themselves growing closer as they enact a plan that should guarantee their places in prestigious colleges. Finally, follow two fathers in the run up to the wedding of their children as they clash over everything from accommodations for out-of-town guests to the catering for the reception.

  • 3% - Season 2 - Set in a dystopian future in which people hope to be sent to a place called the Offshore to live in a practical paradise, candidates must go through a series of tests to determine their eligibility, the Process, which only 3% pass. In the second season, as a new Process approaches, the rebel group known as the Cause plan to wipe out the system once and for all as Michele finds herself torn between the Cause and the government.
  • Candy Jar - This Netflix original film centers on two high schoolers, rivals on their school's debate team. Both passionate and driven, the life-long enemies find themselves growing closer as they team up for an ambitious plan to secure places in the colleges of their dreams.
  • The Week Of - In the week leading up to the wedding of their respective children, two fathers with opposing viewpoints on the upcoming nuptials do their level best to keep everything together even as their efforts start coming apart at the seams, from a bad hotel for the out-of-town guests to the problems with the catering.

Coming Attractions

As always, this week on Netflix sees a new set of original shows hit the service, starts with the original movie, Anon, in which a detective hunts down an assassin who can disappear from visual records and leaves no digital footprint in a future where everyone leaves a footprint and privacy is barely a memory. In the second season of original series Dear White People, Sam, Lionel, and the others find themselves tested by romantic tensions, trolls, and the continually fraught racial politics of their university. Finally, the first season of The Rain follows a brother and sister as they encounter a group of young survivors of a rain-borne virus that wiped out most of the population of Scandinavia years prior.

  • Anon - Set in a dystopian future where people have given up any dream of privacy, a detective hunts an assassin that has erased themselves from all visual records and who has managed to start hacking human beings. When the detective meets a young hacker with skills similar to the assassin, he must determine whether he's caught his target or if she's being framed. Arrives April 27.
  • Dear White People - Volume 2 - In this Netflix original series, students of color encounter the daily slights and fraught racial politics of an Ivy League university. In the latest season, Sam, Lionel, and their friends are all pushed to their limits any romantic tensions, online trolls, and changes at the Armstrong-Parker House. Arrive April 27.
  • The Rain - Season 1 - Set six years after a deadly virus in the rain killed most of the Scandinavian population and their father disappeared, a brother and sister join a group of young survivors looking to find a safe place to live, as well as answers as to what happened to the rain to make it so deadly.. Arrives April 27.
