In this week's selection of films and shows on Amazon Prime, a down-on-his luck nobody boxer gets a chance to prove himself in the sport that he loves when the heavyweight champion purposes a stunt in which the two would face off. Check out the story of a veteran minor league catcher is sent down to his franchise's single-A ball club to get a powerful but wild young pitcher under control and ready for the majors. Finally, follow an Army bomb disposal team in the early years of the Iraq war and the new member that joins to lead the team.
- Rocky - A struggling boxer gets his shot at making his name in the sport when the current heavyweight champion purposes a stunt that would let a "nobody" become a "somebody". Despite his desperate circumstances, Rocky enters the ring to prove that he's got what it takes to go the distance.
- Bull Durham - A veteran minor-league catcher is sent down to a single-A baseball team for a specific purpose: get one of its hotshot rookie pitchers under control in the hopes that he'll be ready for the majors. The men come into conflict not only during training, but as both catch the eye of a woman who is particularly attracted to baseball players.
- The Hurt Locker - Set in the early years of the Iraq war, this Academy Award winner for Best Picture follows a U.S. Army bomb disposal unit as they hunt down explosives across Iraq. The unit is shaken up by the arrival of SFC William James, formerly an Army Ranger with a bit of a maverick streak and a certain disregard for his own safety.
Looking ahead
This week's new additions to Amazon's Prime Video lineup starts with Rocky & Bullwinkle, a new Amazon original animated series following the famous talking moose and squirrel as they head out on adventures around the globe and face off against spies Boris and Natasha. There's also Baywatch, which follows a group of elite lifeguards as they seek to rid Emerald Bay of a dangerous wave of crime that has recently affected the area. Finally, tune in to the final chapter of the story of the Clone Club and their fight against Neolution in an effort to secure their futures in the fifth season of Orphan Black.
- Rocky & Bullwinkle - Season 1 - The talking moose and flying squirrel duo are back in an original animated series for Amazon, in which the pair head out across the world once again on a series of adventures. They once again find themselves up against the spies Boris and Natasha, who are working to bring to fruition Fearless Leader's plans to take over the world. Arrives May 11.
- Baywatch - In this 2017 update to the 90s sitcom, a group of elite lifeguards including a dim-witted new recruit, decide to take matter into their own hands when a massive wave of crime begin hitting their beach. In an effort to make Emerald Bay safe once again, the group comes up against a powerful businesswoman who they suspect is smuggling drugs into the bay. Arrives May 12.
- Orphan Black - Season 5 - As Neolution continues to push the boundaries of science and gain control of the Clone Club, Sarah works to free herself, her daughter, and her sisters from the clutches of the organization once and for all, culminating in a last stand that will come at great cost for both the clones and Neolution alike. Arrives May 12.
