If you play Animal Crossing, you've probably always wished you could bring your pals with you on your iPhone or Android device. Well, I've got good news for you. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is just that — caring for you animal friends on the go! In this world, your fluffy friends are camping and it's your job to make sure they have everything they need while enjoying the great outdoors. Here's everything you need to know about Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp.
What's new with Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp?
January 30, 2018: Host the Most invites new animals and a new theme- Hip!
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp have a new set of animals that want to join the camping fun. Not only are there now six new animal friends, but there is also a brand new theme; Hip! A new theme brings with it new craftable items, like mushroom and balloon furniture (for that creepy Pietro). Of course, a new theme also means new amenities. You can build a Mush tent and follow it up with a Patchwork Ghost Sofa! The six new animals added to the game are as follows:
- Francine
- Stitches
- Merengue
- Bob
- Twiggy
- Pietro
Remember, all of these animals are of the Hip theme.
To celebrate the addition of these animals, Nintendo is running the Host with the Most event again, which means there are stretch goals that reward Hip essence when you invite four new animals to your Campsite. The Host the Most event is only seven days long, ending February 5, so you'd better get out there and help some campers!

January 22, 2018: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Winter Sports event is here!
On the exact closing day of Rover's Garden Safari event, a new reason to keep camping has arrived. Starting Jan. 21 at midnight ET, players were presented with the latest bit of fun — the Winter Sports event. In this go-around, players collect Snowflakes to craft adorable figure-skating and snowboarding outfits. Plus, you can add an ice rink and snowboard ramp to your Campground. It's pretty much exactly like the rules for the Holiday event and New Year's event, but in case you need a little help, we've updated our Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp event guide for you.

January 18, 2018: Craft your own outfit with the new clothing crafting feature in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
There's been an empty tab since the game launched. Crafting clothing was on the horizon, but not yet available... until now. Thanks to an overnight update, the clothing craft tab is now up and running. The best thing is that crafting an outfit is just as easy as crafting furniture. Right now, all of the clothing items require either paper or cotton (except glasses, which require steel), and don't really need that much material. Most of then call for 15 - 30 of one or the other. There are a few "high price ticket" items that require 60 cotton, but that's the most expensive it gets.
To get started making your perfect outfit, go to the Crafting tab, then select the T-shirt icon to see everything you can create and wear.
There's also a couple of timed goals relating to clothing crafting, but they're pretty easy to complete. Craft one item for five Leaf Tickets and craft three items for five more Leaf Tickets. In the Stretch Goals section, you'll note that crafting clothing has been added to the list, too. Craft one clothing item for 20 paper and craft five clothing items for five Leaf Tickets.

January 11, 2018: Rover's Garden Safari event comes to Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
There's a new winter event sitting in your garden right now. Rover's Garden Safari event runs from January 11 - January 21. Your goal is to collect as many rare winter butterflies as possible by planting flowers in your garden that will attract them. Share your butterflies with friends for rewards. Collect a certain number of them to earn exclusive furniture from Rover. Trade your harvested dahlias in to Lloid in exchange for crafting materials. The event is only 10 days long, so you'd better start planting!

January 6, 2018: New animals come to Animal Crossing Pocket Camp
This time, there isn't any timed goals in the Host the Most event. You will, however, earn extra happiness points for your friendship levels between January 6 and 12. Be sure to welcome Sprinkle, Ava, Boots, and Static by leveling up your friendships with them and crafting the items they want to see in your Campsite.
December 26, 2017: New Year's Event brings New Year's-theme craftable items and clothing!
As the current year draws to an end and the new year begins, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp welcomes the future with 10 new items plus two New-Year's themed outfits and a pair of sandals. Just like the holiday event, players collect Countdown Charms by completing requests from animals in the campground. You can craft the items using the Countdown Charms. The Haori, Kimono, and Kimono Sandals are rewards for completing timed goals within the event's timeframe, which is just 15 days long this time.
The New Year's Event runs December 25, 2017 at 12:00 AM ET through January 10, 2018 at 11:59 PM ET.
December 21, 2017: Host the Most invites new animals and a new theme- Rustic!
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp players woke up (or stayed up late enough) to see a new set of animals that want to join the camping fun. Not only are there now seven (yes, seven!) new animal friends, but there is also a brand new theme; Rustic! A new theme brings with it new craftable items, like a cowhide rug and brick fireplace. There's even a covered wagon! Of course, a new theme also means new amenities. You can build a rustic tent and follow it up with a canvas hammock, and then a hot air balloon! The seven new animals added to the game are as follows:
- Marshal
- Mitzi
- Goose
- Drake
- June
- Avery
- Vesta
Remember, all of these animals are of the Rustic theme.
To celebrate the addition of these animals, Nintendo is running the Host with the Most event again, which means extra happiness points whenever you complete requests for any animal in the campground. Stretch goals this time go up to seven new animals hosted at your site. You can earn up to 30 Leaf Tickets for your effort. The Host the Most event is only seven days long, so you'd better get out there and help some campers!

December 18, 2017: Update 1.1.0 brings gardening!
Animal Crossing: Pocket camp has been updated with some new content, the biggest being that gardening has been added to the things you can do in your Campsite. It's off to the left of your camper. After talking to Isabelle, you'll be directed to get some help from Lloid where he will help you get started with your garden. Grow flowers and cross-pollinate them to produce rare flowers. Trade those flowers to Lloid in exchange for items you can place in your Campsite.

The update also added Screenshot mode so you can show off your Campsite layout, the rare fish you've caught, and other awesome things you can do.
There's also a new way to add friends. You can send a link instead of sharing your long, complicated code that doesn't even copy properly in text messages (thank goodness).
Most of the rest of the update covers minor user interface tweaks, like warning messages when you're about to craft something you already own or hints for how to obtain items.
The update is available now in the App Store.

The Host the Most limited Timed Goals include hosting one, two, three, and four animals at your campsite and reward 10 or 20 Leaf Tickets, six Request Tickets, and three Call Tickets. It only lasts five more days, so get started!

Nintendo has officially announce the existence of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. It's coming to iOS and Android "in November," but we don't have a specific launch date at this time. It seems to be available right now in Australia. If you're so inclined, you can download and play the game before it's officially launched in your country, but you have to do a little bit of "cheating" to get it. NintendoLife has a detailed guide for downloading Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp right now, but it's a complicated process. I suggest waiting. It'll probably be in your country really soon.
What is Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp?
Similar to its console counterpart, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a time-based simulation game where players act as a caretaker for a group of adorable animals. In the mobile spinoff, you're in charge of a campsite instead of a village.
You play a campsite manager whose job it is to create the ideal "glamping" spot for your animal friends. As you perform tasks around the campground, like harvesting fruit and helping out visitors, you'll earn materials that you can take to the blacksmith to turn into cool furniture. The more decked out your campsite gets, the more animals will visit.
You'll also earn "leaf tickets" (and other items), which are in-game currency that can be used to speed up how long it takes to harvest items, finish tasks, craft items, and more.
How much does it cost?
That's an interesting question. It doesn't cost anything to download and install the game. It also doesn't cost anything to start playing the game. It is, however, the type of game that uses in-game currency, which you can use to speed up how often you can collect items, craft furniture, and more. So, for some, this free game might cause them to go bankrupt (my best friend already said she won't even download the game because she's afraid she'll spend her entire paycheck on it).
After playing the game for about a month and leveling my character to 23 (as of this writing), I can confirm that this is not the type of game that will make you pay to play. I never felt obligated to spend real cash at all to progress. Based on my experience of the past month, I'd bet that Nintendo will make it's money by offering special items that you can buy during holiday events and the like. These would be nothing more than cosmetic upgrades, but us collectors will put our money down on limited edition items any day of the week.
What devices can I play it on?
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is available on iOS and Android devices. As long as you sign in with your Nintendo Account, your game progress can be saved across devices.
